A major crisis facing the VDC industry is model bloat. On large scale projects, placing thousands of dynamic, deeply nested native Revit hangers or small components triggers endless CPU parametric calculations that cripple model health, max out workstation RAM, and freeze synchronization times. To break this bottleneck, our product team chose a disruptive approach: pivoting away from standard Revit Families (.rfa) entirely and adopting Revit DirectShape technology. In this session, we will deep dive into the strategic evaluation behind moving the parametric engine outside of Revit to process calculations externally. We will demonstrate how injecting raw geometry directly into the project environment bypasses the family constraint solver, turning slow CPU-bound processing into fluid, GPU-driven visualization. Finally, learn how we map standard Shared Parameters to these elements to retain 100% of required BIM scheduling and tagging data.
